Disarm by point
Using a custom function to disarm by point.
A common question we receive when using Bosch Remote Programming Software (RPS) is how to create a disarm command using a point.
Bosch has Three point types to allow for arming and disarming by point. These are Keyswitch Maintained, Keyswitch Momentary and Custom Function.
Keyswitch Maintained points are used for arming (All On) and disarming areas.
- – When the point state is normal the area is disarmed (Off).
- – When the point state changes from normal to open, the area arms to All On.
- – When the point state changes from open to normal the area disarms (goes to Off).
- – If the point state changes to short when the area is armed (All On or Part On) the control panel makes a point alarm event. If the points state changes to short when the area is disarmed (Off) the control panel makes a point trouble event. When the point state changes from shorted to normal or open, the trouble restores.
- – When the point state is open the area is disarmed (Off).
- – When the point state changes from open to normal, the area arms to All On.
- – When the point state changes from normal to open the area disarms (goes to Off).
- – If the point state changes to short when the area is armed (All On or Part On) the control panel makes a point alarm event. If the points state changes to short when the area is disarmed (Off) the control panel makes a point trouble event. When the point state changes from shorted to normal or open, the trouble restores.

With a custom function you have a full list of available commands you can trigger by a point opening or closing, and you can link 6 of these functions together to make a very powerful sequence of events. The options are:
Why use a custom function for this ??
The advantage to custom functions over keyswitch arming and disarming is you have more control over the event. When using a keyswitch the panel will toggle from arming to disarming when the point changes state. However sometimes you would like just an arming or disarming command every time you create a short. For example, you can create a custom function to only trigger when the panel is armed, and on a short it will only ever disarm.
